Every once in a while you run into someone who’s so good at what they do, it almost seems unfair.
That was my experience with Joseph.
I brought in an iPod that I had pretty much accepted was going to be a project, a headache, or maybe even beyond saving. Joseph took a look, worked his magic, and had it fixed in what felt like five minutes. Not five hours, not five days, five minutes.
What impressed me even more than his technical skill was how genuinely kind and patient he was. No ego, no sales pitch, no making things complicated. Just a guy who clearly loves what he does and happens to be exceptionally good at it.
In a world where most things get replaced instead of repaired, it’s refreshing to meet someone who still has that old-school craftsmanship. The kind of person who can diagnose a problem almost instantly and make it look effortless.
You don’t come across people like Joseph very often. In fact, you may only meet a handful in your lifetime. Truly gifted, incredibly knowledgeable, and an absolute gentleman.
If you have an iPod, iPhone, iPad, or anything Apple-related that needs attention, save yourself the time and go see joseph. Some people learn a trade. Some people master it.

If ever there was a “perfect” repair vendor this might be it.
We use iPods in our cars as they are much easier to deal with we find than a phone.
We have lots of music we downloaded in lossless via iTune which many people hate but we find convenient and easy to use.
We had a 30gb and 160gb iPod that refused to fire up when plugged in and just clicked.
I assumed failed hard drives in both cases and that is what I told joseph. Would have been $200 each to replace the hard drive with the preferred solid state solution,
Sent them to him Monday and heard from him Friday and had them back working perfectly Friday.
Turns out that it was dead batteries in both cases which cost $60 each to repair.
Joseph could easily have said it was the hard drives but he is clearly an honest man who does great work.
He will fix what need fixing and nothing more than that.

I got worried when my ipod battery had stopped holding a charge. I took it to the manufacturer who gave me the answer “sorry, we don’t service that model anymore.” :(I looked online and found Joe. He diagnosed the problem, notified me immediately when the replacement battery arrived, and was available for a convenient Sunday appointment for the repair. Highly recommended, lightning fast service, a reasonable price, and a nice guy to-boot. Thank you Joe for breathing new life into my ipod when the manufacturer wouldn’t/couldn’t. A+

I can’t say enough great things about Joe and his business. This is my go to iPhone/iPad repair shop.
In the shady & “fly by night” world of iPhone/iPad repair, Joe’s business stands out as a shining beacon of truth, and excellence.
Joe has helped me with an iPhone 8 and an iPad Air 1st Gen repair. With my iPhone 8, I accidentally dropped it and shattered the front glass. Not knowing any better I took it to local local spot advertised on Pico Boulevard. They did a terrible job, overcharged me, and I went in search for someone to help get my iPhone back up and running. This is where Joe comes in. Based on his reviews, which are all five star, I gave him a call and brought him my phone. He immediately diagnosed the problem and within a couple of hours had my phone repaired and working as good as new.
With the iPad, I had a similar experience; except this time the iPad was a hand me down from a family member who had taken it to be repaired at another crappy fly-by-night spot. Once again, Joe immediately diagnosed the problem and despite the fact that it was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving was more than happy to get right to work. Within 24 hours Joe had repaired my iPad and it’s working beautifully.
One last thing to mention, Joe won’t BS you or try to rip you off. I brought a second iPad with me looking to see if it could be repaired and joe was honest and forthright. After a quick check up he estimated that the cost to repair it would be greater than the cost to buy a new one of similar age and memory size.
Do yourself a favor…don’t bother with anyone else just call joe.

Yelp to the rescue!
My power button has been busted for a total of 48 hours and I’ve already fantasized chucking my phone against a brick wall and buying a Galaxy 3s. I don’t know about you but having a broken phone in my hands triggers the irrational and impatierit part of my brain.
Thankfully, before I could find a brick wall-or blender for that matter-I decided to look for an iPhone repair service on Craigslist. I was a bit concerned about entrusting someone off CL but as soon as I saw “Yelp” on the ad, I knew that I was in good hands.
Joe works out of his back house near Beverly Hills. I rolled up to his place at about 10am and he said he would have the whole thing ready for me within the hour (there was another customer ahead of me). I got a good vibe from him so I left my phone there and picked it up 2 hours later.
Overall, I am extremely happy with the service, speed, and price ($40). My only concern is that the button does not seem upright enough. He said this is because he does not replace the entire button, he just replaces the spring/plunger. That made me a bit hesitant but I asked if I could bring it back to him if I continued to have issues and he said yes. Needless to say, hopefully I won’t have to come back:
Thanks again, Joe!

I normally don’t leave reviews for a business unless they have horrible customer service and treat me poorly or unless the customer service exceeds my expectations and makes me want to return.
In this case, I am leaving this review because Joe has continuously met or exceeded my expectations in terms of delivering results, charging a fair price and being available when I am in need of help.
I have gone to joe for iPod and iPhone problems and each time I go there whether I call in advance or just show up he always solves the issue for me and charges a very fair price in my opinion. He always knows what he is talking about and never ever wastes my time trying to figure out how to solve something. Even in the case that he is unable to fix the underlying cause of the problem, he always has another solution or approach to get the job done and delivers in some way or another.
Years ago when I first wanted to take my iPod or iPhone in to get fixed I went to yelp to search for repair stores. And as you would expect the first thing that I looked at was the reviews and when I saw that joe has 5 stars reviews and a TON of reviews I felt comfortable from the start taking my iPod and iPhone to him. And after the first visit, it made complete sense of why he surpassed everyone else in terms of reviews and the number of reviews.
Needless to say that I will definitely continue to trust joe.

For 3 months I was using my iPod with a cracked screen. I’m just a busy girl who can’t seem to make time to carefully package up my iPod, go to the past office to mail it, then wait a couple of days to maybe get my iPod in the mail. Can I part with my tunes for that long? Well, maybe there’s a place in LA where I can go drop off my iPod and then get it the same day. Wow, that’s an idea, right? happen to Google a search for “iPod Repair in Los Angeles” and iPod Repair Clinic was the first on the search results. I called, joe worked with my schedule. I said I would get there first thing at BAM. Then I was thinking…. hm, he works at the back of his house and I have to meet him there? I’m just a girl, after all, who can kick semi-butt, but do I want to put myself in a potential dangerous situation? Call me extra-cautious, but that’s how my parents raised me.
I went with my gut instincts and met up with joe. Yes, it was an office in his backyard, but this guy is legit. This may be his “side” job, but he’s a hard working and trustworthy guy. I was out of there in 10 minutes after i watched him skillfully replace my broken screen. All this for only $70
Joe also takes mailed-in orders from around the world. He’s damn good at fixing most generation Pods (and I heard maybe some other gadgets?) and would not be surprised to hear him be art Apple Authorized Repair Clinic in the near future.

Anyone who thinks this guy is rude must have severe inadequacy issues. You know, like, they hate a restaurant because the waiter doesn’t introduce himself as “Your pal, Brad.”
Anyway, joe was completely nice, friendly, and competent, and very willing to take time out and sit and explain what he was doing. He gave me a 6-month warranty on his work, completely unsolicited. My (5th generation) iPod has worked like a charm since. Don’t live with shitty headphone intakes or warped screens, don’t wait a week when it takes 5 minutes and definitely don’t pay the Apple store three times what this guy charges.

To this day I do not know how my iPod’s screen broke, but nontheless I needed to get it fixed quick because I am leaving the country next week. So, I go to the Apple store, they say it’s not under warranty, and even if it was, the broken screen was not covered and that I would have to buy a new refurbished one for $200 or for an extra $50, I would get a new one. So, after thanking them for being useless, they gave me Joe’s card.
I emailed him telling him of my dilemma, he said come on over, it would be $60 and only take 10 minutes. I went a few days later. Joe is so personable and very easy to get along with. He fixed the screen, had me test it by turning it on and off a few times to make sure everything worked properly.
Not only was my iPod fixed, but I will take it down there again if my hard drive takes a dive or my battery runs out as well.
So all, I hope you take heed to this review, Joe’s work is definitely worth it. He’s made a customer out of me, and I hope it will do the same for you too.

If I could give joe 10 stars, I would, joe is customer-focused, honest, fast, and friendly. He’s trusted to perform repair work for government agencies like the LAPD. When I arrived today, I watched him finish repairing 4 iPods from another custtimer. Needless to say, the other customer was very pleased.
Then it was my turn to have my iPod Classic 160 gb repaired. The iPod was showing the “red X” and could not be restored, joe put in a new flash drive (faster, more reliable) to replace the old drive. My repair took less than 10 minutes, and joe wastes no time at all. He said he performs about 10 of these drive replacements per week.
L also brought him an iPhone 55, which I had dropped. Another repairman said the motherboard is damaged, and that tech was unable to restore it. I wanted to confirm that the iPhone was indeed beyond repair, joe confirmed the diagnosis.
I found Joe via Google and Yelp. When I called to see if I needed an appointment, Joe’s wife answered the phone. I told her I found them through Yelp and complimented his 5-star reputation She took the time to thank me. She assured me that I could come in today, she gave me directions to their home/garage office, and she followed up with a text message with their address.
From what I saw today, I would trust Joe with any Pod, iPhone, or iPad repair. I look forward to recommending his services to my friends. This man wants to help. You can tell that he takes great pride in his work and goes the extra mile. Thank you, Joe!

Whem my iPod stopped functioning about a year and a half ago, I took it to the Apple store for repair. They told me they didn’t perform repairs but would be happy to sell me a new one. Convinced that better options had to be available, I hit Google and quickly found joe Kempe, who runs his business out of a house conveniently located about 5 minutes from my parents’.
For about a tenth of what Apple would have charged me for a new iPod, Joe replaced my battery and left me with a machine that functioned like new. He also won my repeat business and highest recommendations: Joe is extremely knowledgeable, fast, attentive, and so reasonably priced I almost feel bad not paying him more. He’s also a really nice guy: in the three times I’ve taken various iPods to him, he’s always agreed to see me in person the same day I called, has always been honest about the nature of the problem and what it would cost to fix, and has always left my iPod working perfectly, the same day and for a fair price.
In an age when customers have come to expect very little in the way of service or even honest business practices, Joe Kempe is a reminder that good people are still out there. He runs his business like a true mensch, and he’s excellent at what he does. I could not recommend his services more highly.
